We are a young, ground-breaking technology company with sound funding, global clients and early revenues.  Having developed an innovative approach to image and video compression that is driving major change in the encoding sector, we are seeking a junior engineer to join our video player’s Integration Team, specifically developing, and maintaining V-Nova’s browser-based implementation of LCEVC (Low Complexity Enhancement Video Codec) also known as MPEG5 part 2. 

This role is within a small agile team and reports directly to Integrations Group Manager responsible for development. The company places high importance on a positive environment where talented individuals deliver exceptional products.  The candidate must share that vision and be passionate about ‘right first time’ execution.

Whist this role requires a software engineer with knowledge/experience of iOS or MacOS app development this is not an application development role but initially an integration of V-Nova’s implementation of LCEVC (MPEG 5 Part 2) into iOS/MacOS. Whist we have a current project targeting iOS, engineers within the integration team typically support other integration projects too such as Android, Chromium, WebRTC, JavaScript Web based decode, VLC Player and so on.

• Develop new features for the LECVC integration with iOS, AV Foundation class, for example adding support for HDR content playback or enabling LCEVC playback on Apple TV devices.
• Resolve defects within the codec integration layer and integrations.
• Partake in sprint planning and refinement sessions discussing new features or issues to resolve during the upcoming sprint.
• Attend the Development Team’s daily stand-up meeting and report back status, issues and successes.

Mandatory: 

• A good degree in Computer Science, Engineering, other relevant science/technical subject, or work experience.
• Experience developing software in a commercial setting.
• Experience developing C/C++ software, the core codec integration layers are implementation in C++.
• Some mobile application development experience for iOS using Swift and Objective C
• An interest in developing system level software for iOS, Android or desktop operating systems for use by third party applications.
• An interest in learning about video codecs and video streaming technology
• Able to grasp an exciting new concept with genuine interest with a willingness to learn new subjects independently and rapidly.
• A strong communicator and team player who strives to succeed.

Desirable: 

• Our core products are Video Codecs, knowledge of video codecs, video encoding and streaming technology would give you a head start.
• Experience developing software for iOS, video-based applications a bonus.
