We are looking for an QA Test Engineer who has experience of both manual testing and test automation to join us on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for working with development teams to defined new test plans and test automation strategies before implementing them targeting our Codec and Codec integration development. 
Working within Agile developments team (mixture of Scrum and Kanban) across engineering, you will be responsible for contributing to the automation and manual test effort along with reporting results  before our products are released. 


  • Contribute to the exiting test frameworks by working with engineering teams to develop new test cases and refine the approach taken to automation. 
  • Review development stories and features requirements, agree acceptance criteria and refer to project/system documentation to clarify and define the necessary tests 
  • Participate in selecting the most appropriate test tools and test techniques for engineering teams you will directly work with. 
  • Use risk-driven techniques to develop, maintain and execute automated test suites 
  • Perform test campaigns/cycles including System Tests, Functional/Non-functional Tests, Exploratory Tests, End-to-End Tests etc. 
  • Where automation is not possible support manual testing effort for specific requirements. Our goal is to minimise this effort. 
  • Communicate to relevant stakeholders, normally via a team stand up, the latest status and issues with test activities.
  • Actively participate in agile ceremonies providing the QA perspective to stories and tasks undertaken by your team during planning/refinement sessions 
  • Launch test campaigns for regular software releases, creating test reports to present results to the team and its stakeholders. 
  • Finding, isolate, report, and track bugs through resolution 
  • Conduct effective root cause analysis by understand new features added to the product and being aware or similar defects already raised. 
  • Creation and maintenance of regression test packs, including an automated E2E and acceptance test suite to be run nightly 



Skills and Experiences:

  • At least 2 years automated and manual software testing experience
  • Good written and oral communication, comfortable providing clear accurate progress updates and able to document requirements, work completed and so on. 
  • An interest in video codec technology and learning more about video encoding and playback technology 
  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test cases & test scripts 
  • Experience working with Test Automation tools for Mobile devices – Android & iOS 
  • Use of at least 1 BDD testing tool such as Spock or Cucumber (Cucumber preferred) 
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration based development environment 
  • Experience developing software, test frameworks using Python or other similar language 
  • Understanding of the software development life cycle 
  • QA experience working with REST API, POSTMAN, GIT and LINUX commands 
  • Experience with modern databases like mysql, postgresql or mongoDB


Desirable skills:

  • Exposure to Pytest, Google Test Frameworks, Junit or Jmeter test frameworks 
  • Understanding of video and common compression features, particularly video – lossy, lossless, quality metrics, colour spaces. 
  • Understanding of broadcast video techniques and technology – HD-SDI & 3G-SDI Over IP 
  • Experience using AWS cloud solutions and docker  
  • Device deployment and testing using Android studio  
  • Knowledge of Embedded systems.
